Blogger Award
Catherine from The Sewing Attic kindly nominated me for this blogger award. Thanks Catherine :) You are too sweet!
I am not so sure I am that deserving of this award... but I will play along all the same :)
The rules of accepting are
- Thank the person who nominated you - Thanks again Catherine!
- Share 7 things about yourself. I apologise to all in advance!
- Pass the award onto 5 bloggers who you recently discovered and think are fantastic.
- Contact the bloggers you've nominated and let them know about the award.
So here goes... seven things about me. Thankfully the rules didn't say seven interesting things because I am not really that interesting!!
- I am not a particularly traditional kinda girl and will pretty much break every tradition when my DP and I get married later this year in November. Short dress. No real formality apart from the service. No walking down the aisle. Photo's before not after. No bridal party or bridal table. I just want to keep it nice n easy!
- I left school at the end of 6th Form to work for a Bank to save money to study nursing. I never did quite make it to study nursing and have been working for the Bank ever since. I still hope to study nursing at some point when the boys are at school. I hope to be a paediatric nurse.
- I am the proverbial black sheep of my family.
- I try but I am a hopeless baker. My baking often tastes better than it looks though! Fortunately my SIL is a very good baker and saves my bacon with baking yummy cakes etc.
- I don't really have a favourite colour. If you were to look in my wardrobe you'd think it was black but really I love to use colour practically everywhere else. I especially love to use red in quilts. I don't know why but it makes them look so rich.
- If you asked the DP what my signature dish was he'd tell you it's schnitzel. I love the humble simplicity of making it from scratch and it is a family favourite. It's just a pity it makes so many dishes!!
- And finally my favourtie all time TV series is Felicity. I cried when it went off air. But made up for it and bought the box set.
So there you go. I told you I wasn't really that interesting!
And now to nominate some lovely bloggers...
- Susanne and Alisa from Making More with Less - great ideas for thrifty threads and baby shower gifts!!
- Lynz from Domestic Light & Magic - she has been making some very pretty quilts and has the cutest daughter.
- Susan from Flossie Blossoms - she's so very clever!
- Karen from Urban Craft - she makes felt so very intersting! Love!
- Viv from Highway Cottage - another clever quilting Kiwi!
My little Gus turns ONE this Thursday. I can not believe how quickly this past year has gone! We had a wee party for him yesterday and like most little babies didn't seem to really know what all the fuss was about.

Ready to Wrap
For our newest little nephew Shaun - 10/03/10. We're going for a family lunch today so I'll be wrapping this wee Oddysea quilt made using a tutorial via Oh Fransson Blog. This top was so quick to put together and used only a charm pack and some yardage of fabric. My friend has already asked me to make one for her wee boy too. Top of the To Do list though is Aphra's quilt. My LAQ said she'll quilt it overnight for me once it's finished. Isn't she lovely? Now to get motivated!!
I love these prints. They are perfect for a wee baby boy to grow with.
You can see the cute fishy stitching in the back. My local LAQ is a miracle worker.

Windmill WIP Progress Update
I originally thought I'd make a wee cot quilt measuring 6 x 4 blocks... but I think I might make this 5 x 5 with a white border or 6 x 6? Thoughts? Suggestions?
Getting a wiggle on!
With a little over two weeks until Aphra's 30th birthday I am trying desperately to finish all the startflower blocks! 8 made. 8 to go!

Wishful Thinking & Window Shopping
I should know by now that browsing The Fat Quarter Shop is dangerous.Very dangerous. My wishlist only continues to grow and it will be a while before I will be allowed to splurge on some more fabric. So in the meantime it's just window shopping for me!!
Have you seen these beauties though?? I love this Whimsy Kite Quilt. This is still a favourite - oh and this and this. Oh, yeah - Hunky Dory is still wishful thinking too...
My birthday is in 2 months. I will be subtly (well maybe not so subtly) suggesting that the DP and family give me a Fat Quarter Shop voucher :) but then the difficulty will be deciding what to buy!!
What's on your wishlist? Please share - I love seeing new fabric's and I'd love to know what you'd make with it if you had it!!

A little of Ollie and Gus...
The boys and I went to Staglands today - a wildlife reserve just out of Wellington in Upper Hutt... Oliver absolutely loved seeing and feeding all the animals :) Oliver will be 2.5 this month - halfway to school!!!! And my little Gus will be 1 on the 1st April... He's our little April Fool. We'll be celebrating in true style with a Mickey Mouse themed party!
No sewing achieved this week... it was a pretty crazy week all round. A few wines have been consumed. I am hoping to get sewing next week. I need to!! My SIL is due at the end of the month so I need to get cracking!
What did you do this week? Anything exciting? Please share!!
